Once in the shower, make sure you set the water temperature to warm so it’s not too hot and not too cold.
It needs to be hot enough to start to melt the grease and oil that clings to your hair, but not too hot so it burns or irritates theskin.
The correct amount of shampoo
Place a small amount into your hand – around a tablespoon should be fine – and work in the shampoo at the scalp.
That way, you’ll remove grease and oil where it’s most concentrated. From there, massage the lather down your hair fibres.
The outside of each hair is covered in cuticle scales, kind of like scales on a fish, so work from roots to tips in the same directionas the cuticle, to avoid damaging the cuticle.
Also, try not to lather your hair in a circular motion, and never pile it up on your head to lather – it can create permanent knots, something we call “birdnesting.”
If you’re struggling with knots, try our Smooth & Silky Shampoo to help eliminate tangles and control frizzfor up to 24 hours.
